Mastering Nolan: The Cosmic Wayfinder in Mobile Legends

As Mobile Legends celebrates its 7th anniversary, the highly anticipated 122nd hero, Nolan, enters the battlefield. Nolan, an Assassin with remarkable Blink and Burst Physical Damage capabilities, brings a fresh and intriguing dynamic to the game.

Delving into Nolan’s lore, players discover that he is none other than Layla’s long-lost father. We’ve previously conducted a comprehensive analysis of Nolan when he appeared on the MLBB advanced server. In this Mobile Legends guide, we’re here to provide you with insights into the best emblem setups, spells, and builds, along with invaluable tips and tricks to dominate every match with Nolan.

Nolan’s Skills

Nolan boasts three active skills and a passive skill, including a special ultimate skill, as is typical for heroes in the game. In this guide, we’ll dissect his skills, providing advice on when to use them and how to create potent skill combinations to maximize Nolan’s potential.

Passive – Dimensional Rift:

Nolan’s skills leave behind Rifts that slow enemies by 30% for 5 seconds. These Rifts, when activated by contact with another Rift, pull enemies to their center and deal 220 (+140% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage after a brief delay. Nolan gains 15 Energy when a Rift activation hits an enemy hero or creep. However, if an enemy is struck by multiple Rift activations, the damage after the first hit is reduced to 40%.

Cosmic Leap:

If Nolan refrains from dealing or receiving damage for 5 seconds, his next basic attack transforms into a dash, dealing (120% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and leaving a Rift. Importantly, this effect remains active even when attacking Minions or Creeps.

Skill 1 – Expansion:

Nolan cleaves a rectangular area in front of him with his cosmic gauge, inflicting 230/280/330/380/430/480 (+40% Total Physical Attack) physical damage and creating a Rift upon hitting the first enemy.

Skill 2 – Gauge:

Nolan charges in the target direction, slashing with his cosmic gauge, dealing 70/100/130/160/190/220 (+ 13% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage to enemies in his path and leaving a Rift.

Skill 3 – Fracture:

Nolan removes all debuffs from himself and slashes the target location three times, dealing 130/170/210 (+50% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage with each slash and leaving three Rifts. The Rifts activate automatically as Nolan dashes backward.

Optimal Emblem Sets and Spells for Nolan in Mobile Legends

Emblem Setup:

Nolan’s unique blend of Assassin and energy-dependent skills makes him an ideal choice for a Jungler, where the purple buff enhances his performance. The Custom Assassin Emblem, revamped to offer three different talents, is the preferred choice for Nolan. Here’s a recommended setup for Nolan’s Emblem:

  1. First Talent – Rupture: Rupture provides additional adaptive penetration, boosting Nolan’s Physical damage penetration. This is especially valuable for dominating the early game.
  2. Second Tier Talent – Seasoned Hunter: Seasoned Hunter increases damage against buffs, lords, and turtles, making jungling more efficient. Alternatively, players may opt for Festival of Blood or Master Assassin. The former grants extra spell vamp and regen on skill usage, while the latter increases damage dealt against solo enemy targets.
  3. Third Tier Talent – Killing Spree: Killing Spree grants %HP regen upon killing an enemy hero. Players can also consider Lethal Ignition, which scorches enemy heroes by dealing a percentage of damage to them.

Battle Spells:

When playing as Nolan, it is highly recommended to choose the Retribution spell and jungle with him due to his remarkably low cooldown skills, which allow him to excel at dealing damage to enemy targets. Alternatively, players can consider Execute if they intend to go to the exp or side lane, as it provides extra damage to finish off low-hp enemy targets.

Crafting the Ideal Build for Nolan

Nolan, the Assassin hero, relies on a combination of skills and enhanced basic attacks for damage output. His low skill cooldowns make him a skill-dependent hero capable of spamming skills and out-damaging enemy targets. Here’s the best build for Nolan in Mobile Legends:

  1. Tough Boots: Begin with boots for mobility.
  2. Blade of the Heptaseas: This item boosts enhanced basic attack damage, synergizing perfectly with Nolan’s Basic Attack passive, which enhances his basic attack when he avoids damage for 5 seconds.
  3. Hunter Strike: Provides extra movement speed and physical penetration when attacking enemy targets.
  4. Blade of Despair: Offers high physical attack, significantly increasing Nolan’s physical damage output.
  5. Malefic Roar: Enhances Nolan’s physical penetration against enemy targets, making even the toughest foes vulnerable.
  6. Optional Items: Consider Rose Gold Meteor for defense and shielding against burst damage dealers, or Immortality for a second chance at surviving fatal encounters.

Mobile Legends Nolan Guide: Navigating Gameplay

Nolan, a unique marksman role hero with superior Blink and damage abilities, leverages his remarkably low skill cooldowns to shine on the battlefield. However, effective gameplay with Nolan requires a strong understanding of map control and strategy. Nolan’s gameplay can be divided into three distinct phases: early, mid, and late gameplay.

Early Game:

Jungling with Nolan is a strategic choice. Start by unlocking his first skill and benefit from his basic attack passive by attacking the purple buff creep, which is essential due to its energy reduction passive. This sets the stage for a successful early game. After securing the purple buff, contest Lithowander and claim your team’s red buff. Don’t forget to clear other side creeps like the Lava Golem and Fire Beetle to optimize your retribution spell’s perks. Ganking the most vulnerable lane, usually the gold lane, before the first turtle spawns, can give your team an early advantage.

Late Game:

As you accumulate core equipment, Nolan becomes a damage-dealing powerhouse with his low skill cooldowns. Nolan can easily assassinate enemy backliners when supported by a good tank’s engagement. His ultimate ability is particularly valuable during teamfights, especially when contesting objectives like turtles. Ensure that your Rifts are strategically placed to maximize their impact. Remember, while Nolan excels at taking down squishy targets, it’s crucial to participate in teamfights rather than attempting to solo enemies.

Nolan is a well-rounded assassin hero with low-cooldown, high-impact abilities. He’s capable of obliterating squishy damage dealers and disrupting tanky front liners. Nolan’s skillset is reminiscent of energy-dependent assassins like Fanny and Ling but offers a unique twist with his debuff-removing ability.
